Tirumala Implements Heat Relief Measures for Pilgrims

In response to the intense heat this summer, TTD has spent approximately two crore rupees to enhance facilities for pilgrims visiting the Tirumala temple. This investment aims to improve overall comfort during the peak season.

Before these measures, expectations were that pilgrims would endure long waits with limited amenities. However, TTD’s recent efforts have significantly changed that landscape.

Key changes include:

  • Shaded shelters from Batagangamma Circle to Gogarbham Dam Circle and up to the Outer Ring Road.
  • Mobile water drums set up to provide drinking water for thirsty pilgrims.
  • A total of 16 medical centers established across Tirumala for health emergencies.

The impact of these improvements is already visible. TTD has made an additional 3.50 lakh laddus available for distribution during this summer rush, ensuring that devotees receive their traditional offering without delay.

Furthermore, TTD has prioritized accommodation for families, while solo pilgrims face restrictions on room allocations. This adjustment reflects a growing need for larger family accommodations as more people visit.

Additional facilities include:

  • 11 mini Kalyana Kattas available in various rest houses.
  • A total of 1,152 barbers, including 269 women, providing grooming services to pilgrims.
  • 9,000 lockers available for secure storage of personal belongings.

Tirumala’s limited accommodation capacity restricts allocation for over 60,000 pilgrims daily. Experts suggest that these upgrades are crucial in managing the influx and ensuring safety during peak periods.
