Axis My India predicts a stunning debut for Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam

Axis My India predicts a stunning debut for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), potentially reshaping Tamil Nadu’s political landscape ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Previously, expectations revolved around the dominance of established parties like the DMK and AIADMK. However, recent exit polls reveal a significant shift in voter sentiment.

TVK is projected to win between 98-120 seats in the 234-seat Tamil Nadu Assembly, with an anticipated vote share of 35%. This figure matches that of the ruling DMK-led bloc, indicating a competitive race.

The DMK-INC+ coalition is expected to secure 92-110 seats, while the NDA may only capture 22-32 seats. This fragmentation suggests a potential realignment in Tamil Nadu’s political dynamics.

Vijay emerges as the most favored choice for Chief Minister, garnering 37% support compared to MK Stalin’s 35%. Notably, among first-time voters aged 18-19, TVK enjoys an impressive 68% support rate.

The desire for change resonates strongly with voters; 35% cite it as their primary reason for supporting TVK, rising to 77% among TVK supporters. This sentiment cuts across various demographics, including OBC and SC communities and both urban and rural segments.

This rise of TVK signals a break from Tamil Nadu’s long-standing bipolar politics. Pradeep Gupta notes that Vijay’s ascent parallels that of former chief ministers like MG Ramachandran (MGR) in Tamil Nadu.

If these projections hold true, TVK could not only become the largest party but also play a kingmaker role in a fractured mandate. The changing political landscape indicates that traditional power bases may be challenged significantly.

The upcoming elections will test these predictions and their implications on Tamil Nadu’s governance and policy direction.
