Anbumani Ramadoss’s Deputy Chief Minister Demand Rejected by Vijay

Vijay’s rejection of Anbumani Ramadoss’s demand for a Deputy Chief Minister post for his wife Sowmiya adds tension to the ongoing coalition talks in Tamil Nadu. This development follows the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where Vijay’s Tamil Nadu Victory Alliance (TVK) secured 106 seats, needing just 12 more seats to form a government with a majority.

Anbumani Ramadoss, leader of the PMK, had requested the Deputy Chief Minister position for his wife, but Vijay turned down this demand. He stated, “Anbumani asked for the Deputy Chief Minister post for his wife Sowmiya,” but ultimately decided against it.

The TVK is currently in discussions with several parties, including Congress, CPI, CPM, and VCK, to solidify their political alliance. Meanwhile, Anbumani’s PMK managed to win just 5 seats in the recent elections.

Vijay has also written to Governor Rajendra Arlekar to form the government and has requested a 14-day deadline to prove his majority. He plans to meet with MLAs and the Governor soon.

The 2026 Assembly election marks a significant turning point in Tamil Nadu politics, highlighting shifting alliances and power dynamics. Observers are closely watching how these negotiations unfold in the coming weeks.
