Wpl: RCB Wins 2026 with Record Chase of 204 Runs

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) women’s team triumphed in the WPL 2026 final, defeating the Delhi Capitals by six wickets. RCB achieved a remarkable chase of 204 runs with just two balls to spare, marking a historic moment in women’s cricket.

This victory not only secured RCB’s second WPL title but also set a record for the highest runs chased in both WPL and IPL finals. The previous highest chase in a Women’s T20 final was below 175 runs, making this achievement particularly significant.

Smriti Mandhana was instrumental in RCB’s success, scoring an impressive 87 runs off 41 balls, while Georgia Voll contributed 79 runs from 54 balls. Despite an early loss of Grace Harris, who managed only 8 runs, RCB’s batting lineup proved resilient.

On the other side, Jemimah Rodrigues led the charge for Delhi Capitals, scoring 57 runs off 37 balls. Chinelle Henry also made a notable contribution, finishing with 35 not out from just 15 balls. However, it was not enough to secure a win for the Capitals.

Dinesh Karthik praised RCB’s campaign, stating, “That was an unreal WPL FINALS. RCB were just too good throughout the tournament.” His sentiments were echoed by Mithali Raj, who highlighted Mandhana’s performance, saying, “Big moments, big leaders. @mandhana_smriti stood tall on the biggest stage, with excellent support from Georgia Voll, as RCB Women clinched their second WPL crown.”

HD Kumaraswamy congratulated RCB, tweeting, “Heartiest congratulations to @RCBTweets Women on winning the 2026 Women’s Premier League title and scripting yet another proud chapter in women’s cricket.”

Despite their strong performances, this defeat continued the Delhi Capitals’ streak of final losses, as they have finished as runners-up in every edition of the WPL to date.

As the dust settles on this thrilling final, observers are left to ponder what the future holds for both teams in the upcoming seasons. Details remain unconfirmed regarding potential changes in team rosters or strategies for the next WPL edition.
