Weather Jaipur: Significant Rainfall Transforms Conditions

On March 23, 2026, several areas of Jaipur experienced rainfall, resulting in a notable shift in the city’s weather from warm to pleasant. This change comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a nationwide weather alert forecasting widespread thunderstorms, rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma responded promptly by instructing district collectors to conduct immediate surveys assessing crop damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall. He emphasized the importance of supporting farmers, stating, “The prosperity of Rajasthan rests on the foundation of our farmer brothers and sisters. The state government stands firmly with you with complete sensitivity and responsibility.”

An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and parts of West Bengal due to expected thunderstorms and gusty winds, with wind speeds potentially reaching 60 to 70 km/h.

In Jaipur, the rainfall has brought a significant change in temperature dynamics. The highest maximum temperature in Rajasthan on March 22 was recorded in Barmer at 35.2 degrees Celsius. However, the rainfall activity in Delhi has resulted in a significant drop in maximum temperatures, with current conditions showing 20 degrees Celsius and a humidity level of 65%.

As the weather system progresses, light rain with thunderstorms was also observed in parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Barmer, and Shekhawati on March 22. Rain is anticipated to continue in the Shekhawati region on March 25, further contributing to the changing weather patterns.

Akhil Shrivastava from the IMD noted, “A large-scale thunderstorm activity is currently being witnessed across India,” highlighting the widespread nature of this weather event. The IMD’s forecasts indicate that while the current rainfall is significant, it is expected to subside starting March 24.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the extent of crop damage across the affected regions, but the immediate surveys ordered by the Chief Minister aim to provide clarity on the situation. As the weather evolves, residents and farmers alike are urged to stay informed and prepared for further developments.
