उद्धव ठाकरे: Uddhav Thackeray’s Criticism of Pawan Khera Ahead of Assam Elections

As the Assam elections approach on April 9, 2026, tensions within the political landscape are escalating. Uddhav Thackeray’s spokesperson, Anand Dubey, has taken a strong stance against Congress leader Pawan Khera, accusing him of damaging the party’s image through his recent comments.

On a recent occasion, Dubey stated, “Assam ka chunav achha chal raha hai lekin Pawan Khera jaise netaon ne apne badbolepan ki wajah se is chunav mein Congress ki chhavi ko nuksan pahunchaya hai,” highlighting the negative impact of Khera’s remarks on the Congress party.

Dubey emphasized that the focus of the elections should remain on issues, development, policy, and strategy, rather than personal attacks. His comments come amid a backdrop of increasing political rivalry as various parties prepare for the upcoming elections.

Rashid Alvi, another Congress spokesperson, defended Khera by stating that a spokesperson’s comments reflect the party’s stance, making the filing of an FIR against him unlawful. This defense underscores the contentious atmosphere as party representatives navigate the implications of public statements.

Meanwhile, Supriya Shrinate accused Khera of making serious allegations against Himanta Biswa Sarma and his family, suggesting that these claims should be addressed directly. This accusation adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing political discourse.

In response, Imran Masood remarked that Khera’s statements were factual during his press conference in Guwahati, indicating a divide in how party members perceive the situation.

On the other side, Amit Shah has claimed that the BJP is actively removing illegal immigrants from the voter list in Assam, a move that could significantly influence the electoral landscape.

Akhil Gogoi, representing the opposition, stated that the people of Assam are eager to vote for change, indicating a potential shift in voter sentiment as the election date approaches.

As the political dynamics continue to evolve, the focus remains on the upcoming elections, where seven districts in Assam have reportedly become Muslim-majority. The outcome of these elections could have lasting implications for all parties involved.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of the allegations and counter-allegations as the election date nears, but the stakes are undeniably high for all candidates and their respective parties.
