TVS Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter Launches in India

TVS Motor Company Launches Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter

On March 12, 2026, TVS Motor Company unveiled the Orbiter V1 electric scooter in Lucknow, India, marking a significant step in making electric mobility more accessible to consumers.

The Orbiter V1 is priced at ₹49,999 under the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which allows customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of paying the full price upfront. Without this model, the scooter is available for ₹84,500.

Equipped with a 1.8 kWh battery, the Orbiter V1 offers a certified IDC range of 86 km per charge. Charging from 0 to 80% takes approximately two hours and 20 minutes, making it a convenient option for daily commutes.

In terms of storage, the scooter features a generous 34-litre under-seat capacity, catering to the practical needs of urban riders. Additionally, it includes a coloured LCD instrument cluster and a companion mobile app for enhanced connectivity.

Safety is a priority for the Orbiter V1, which comes equipped with alerts for crashes, falls, theft, geo-fencing, and time-fencing, ensuring a secure riding experience.

The BaaS model starts with monthly plans at ₹862, providing an affordable entry point for customers looking to switch to electric vehicles. Furthermore, the scooter includes a five-year extended warranty for users who opt for the BaaS service.

Gaurav Gupta, President of India 2W Business at TVS Motor Company, emphasized the launch’s importance in enhancing electric mobility accessibility. He stated, “This launch is a crucial step towards making electric mobility more accessible.”

Additionally, Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President overseeing the Commuter and EV Business, noted that customer feedback on the Orbiter V2 directly influenced the decision to introduce this more entry-level option.

The launch comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is experiencing rapid growth, with increasing consumer interest in sustainable transport solutions.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the initial sales figures and customer reception, but the Orbiter V1 is expected to play a pivotal role in TVS’s electric vehicle portfolio.
