Online applications for admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Gujarat commenced on April 4, 2026, with a total of over 84,000 seats available in private schools across the state. The application window will remain open until April 17, 2026.
Of the total seats, 25% are reserved for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections, reflecting the government’s commitment to providing access to quality education. This year, the admissions process has been revised to allow parents to select school timings, either morning or afternoon shifts.
Out of the available seats, more than 41,000 will be in Gujarati medium, 40,262 in English medium, 2,235 in Hindi medium, and 320 in other mediums. Parents are required to submit supporting documents, including proof of date of birth, proof of residence, caste or category, and income certificate.
The official portal for applications is rte.orpgujarat.com. Parents are advised to keep one print copy of the filled online application for their records.
The lottery result for admissions is expected in early May 2026, and this year, preference in admissions will be accorded to children belonging to reserved categories.
The RTE admission process aims to provide access to quality education for children from economically weaker and middle-income families, ensuring that they have the opportunity to attend private schools.
As the application deadline approaches, parents are encouraged to complete their registrations promptly to secure their children’s educational opportunities. The annual income limit for parents applying under the RTE scheme is set at 6 lakhs.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional changes to the admissions process or the number of applications received by the deadline.
