Maaz Sadaqat Set for ODI Debut Against Bangladesh
Maaz Sadaqat will make his ODI debut against Bangladesh on March 11, 2026, at the Shere-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. He will be joined by fellow newcomers Sahibzada Farhan and Shamyl Hussain in what marks a significant moment for Pakistan cricket.
Pakistan’s ODI series against Bangladesh consists of three matches, and the inclusion of Sadaqat, Farhan, and Hussain reflects a strategic squad overhaul following a disappointing T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.
Shaheen Afridi, the captain of the Pakistan team, expressed enthusiasm about the debuts, stating, “There will be like three debuts, of course. Sahibzada is the top performer in T20s and also in List ‘A’ cricket for Pakistan. Maaz Sadaqat will open, and Shamyl Hussain will play at one down.”
Maaz Sadaqat is expected to bat at the third position, having showcased his talent by scoring 258 runs with an impressive average of 129 in the Rising Stars Asia Cup. His performance has made him a player to watch in this series.
Sahibzada Farhan, who is anticipated to open the batting, had an outstanding T20 World Cup, scoring 383 runs at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25. His form has made him a key player for the upcoming matches.
Shamyl Hussain, slated to bat at number three, has also made a mark in domestic cricket, scoring 899 runs in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with an average of 64.21. His experience in List A cricket, where he scored 452 runs, adds depth to the batting lineup.
Afridi further emphasized the importance of these players, saying, “We are excited to see them play for Pakistan, not just for one series but with the future in mind.” He hopes they will play their natural game and showcase their skills on the international stage.
As Pakistan prepares for this ODI series, the focus will be on how these young players adapt to the pressures of international cricket. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the final squad composition and strategies for the matches ahead.
