Park Jin-young Resigns from JYP Entertainment Directorship
“Park Jin-young will not go through the process of reappointment as an inside director at the general shareholders’ meeting on March 26,” announced JYP Entertainment.
This statement marks a significant transition for Park Jin-young, who has served as a registered inside director since 2011, stepping down after 15 years in the role. He plans to redirect his efforts towards creative activities as an artist, nurturing junior talent, and engaging in external work related to the K-pop industry.
Park Jin-young, who debuted in the music industry in 1994, founded JYP Entertainment in 1997 and has been a pivotal figure in shaping the K-pop landscape. His leadership has been instrumental in the company’s growth, which recently saw record sales in the second quarter of 2025, further solidified by Stray Kids’ successful North American tour that grossed $76.2 million with 491,000 audience members.
In addition to his resignation from the board, Park Jin-young will retain his position as Chief Creative Officer (CCO). This role will allow him to continue influencing the K-pop industry while focusing on his creative passions.
Park Jin-young’s departure from the directorship comes at a time when JYP Entertainment is experiencing significant success, with Stray Kids being recognized as the highest-grossing K-pop tour of 2025 according to Billboard’s end-of-the-year report.
As he steps back from his directorial duties, Park Jin-young stated, “Jinyoung Park will continue his various efforts within the K-pop industry going forward,” indicating his ongoing dedication to the field.
With the upcoming shareholders’ meeting on March 26, the company will officially mark this transition. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further changes within the organization.
