BITS Pilani Achieves 45th Ranking in Pharmacy and Pharmacology

BITS Pilani has achieved a notable ranking of 45 in the field of Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the QS Subject Rankings 2026. This accomplishment comes as part of a broader trend where India secured 27 top-50 positions across 12 institutions, reflecting a significant boost in the country’s higher education standing.

Among the Indian institutions, IIT Delhi led the way with six entries in the top-50 rankings. The overall performance of Indian universities is impressive, with 20 new institutions added to the QS Subject Rankings this year, bringing the total to 99 ranked universities.

In addition to the rankings, it was reported that 265 subject entries from India improved their positions compared to previous years, indicating a positive trend in academic performance.

However, the news from BITS Pilani is bittersweet as it follows the tragic death of Karan Narsimha Murthy, a student at the institution, who died in a motorcycle accident when his bike collided with an empty fuel tanker.

BITS Pilani, located at the KK Birla Goa campus in Zuarinagar, Sancoale, has been a significant contributor to India’s educational landscape, consistently achieving high rankings across various disciplines.

The QS Subject Rankings are a critical benchmark for universities worldwide, and India’s performance in this year’s rankings highlights its growing influence in global higher education.

As observers look ahead, they anticipate further developments in the rankings and the impact of these changes on the educational landscape in India. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the implications of the recent tragedy on the BITS Pilani community.
