Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card Changes Announced

Axis Bank has announced significant changes to the Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card, which will take effect on April 12, 2026. These alterations will impact the card’s cashback mechanics and benefits, which have been a key attraction for many users.

Previously, the Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card offered a robust cashback structure, including 25% cashback on Airtel payments, capped at INR 250 per month. Additionally, users enjoyed 10% cashback on utility payments made through the Airtel Thanks app, also limited to INR 250 monthly. The card further provided 10% cashback on purchases from popular platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, and BigBasket, along with 1% cashback on other expenditures.

One of the notable benefits of the card was the inclusion of four complimentary domestic lounge visits per year, a feature that appealed to frequent travelers. However, these lounge access benefits will be removed in the upcoming changes, which some observers believe may dilute the card’s appeal.

The new cashback structure will now depend on the amount of base cashback earned in the same statement cycle, introducing a more complex system compared to the previous straightforward cashback offerings. The cashback on Swiggy, Zomato, and BigBasket will be replaced with a 10% value back on Zomato, Blinkit, and District Movies, with a maximum value back of INR 200 per partner per month. Users will need to meet a minimum order value of INR 499 for Zomato and Blinkit to qualify for this benefit.

These changes have raised concerns among existing cardholders who appreciated the simplicity and straightforward benefits of the Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card. The card was previously regarded as one of the strongest cashback options in the sub-INR 1,000 annual fee category, making it a popular choice among consumers.

As the implementation date approaches, many users are left wondering how these changes will affect their spending habits and overall satisfaction with the card. Observers expect that the alterations may lead to a decline in the card’s popularity, especially among those who valued the previous cashback structure.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding how existing cardholders will transition to the new benefits and whether any additional changes may be announced before the effective date. The evolving landscape of credit card offerings continues to challenge consumers to stay informed about the best options available to them.
