AIIMS Mangalagiri Achieves Milestones in Medical Education and Patient Care

AIIMS Mangalagiri has recently conferred degrees on 49 MBBS graduates, alongside five MD/MS postgraduate students and four Post-Doctoral Certificate Course students. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the institution, which began its MBBS course in 2018 with an initial intake of 50 students. Today, the total number of MBBS students has risen to 748, with an annual intake of 125 students.

In addition to its educational accomplishments, AIIMS Mangalagiri has completed an impressive 31 lakh OPD consultations, reflecting its growing role in the healthcare landscape of Andhra Pradesh. The hospital currently sees a daily patient footfall of approximately 3,500-4,000 patients.

To further enhance its healthcare services, AIIMS Mangalagiri has installed a Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT) system, which is the first of its kind among all AIIMS in South India. This system, costing around ₹1.73 crore, significantly improves the ability to detect viral RNA/DNA with high sensitivity, enabling early identification of infections such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.

Union Minister of State for Health, Anupriya Patel, emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritizing the medical sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She stated, “The Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving utmost priority to the medical sector.” This reflects the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and quality for the population.

Healthcare expert Ahanthem Singh commented on the significance of the NAAT system, noting, “The NAAT system enhances safety by significantly reducing the diagnostic window period.” This advancement is expected to lead to better patient outcomes and more efficient healthcare delivery.

As AIIMS Mangalagiri continues to expand its capabilities and services, observers anticipate further developments in medical education and patient care in the region. The institution’s growth is indicative of the broader commitment to enhancing healthcare services in India.
