Irán war: Iran War Enters 24th Day Amidst Claims of Peace Talks

“They want peace,” stated President Donald Trump regarding Iran’s position in the ongoing conflict. As the Iran War, launched by the United States and Israel, enters its 24th day on March 23, 2026, the situation remains tense and complex.

Trump’s assertion comes amidst claims that Iran is eager for a deal to end the war, leading him to extend a deadline for Iran to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz by five days. However, Iranian officials, including Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, have firmly denied that any negotiations have taken place since the onset of hostilities.

The war has resulted in over 2,000 fatalities, with Iran’s Health Ministry reporting that the death toll within its borders has surpassed 1,500. Israeli airstrikes have also contributed to the devastation, claiming more than 1,000 lives in Lebanon and displacing over 1 million people.

In a stark warning, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened retaliation against U.S. attacks targeting critical infrastructure, specifically power plants. This escalation underscores the fragile nature of the conflict, which has already shaken the global economy.

As of now, Iran has reportedly completed 99% of the centrifuge work necessary to produce weapons-grade uranium for nine nuclear weapons, raising international concerns about the implications of the ongoing war.

In addition to the human toll, the conflict has also resulted in 15 deaths in Israel due to Iranian strikes and 13 U.S. military members killed. The ramifications of this war extend beyond the immediate region, affecting global energy markets and international relations.

“With this kind of psychological warfare, neither the Strait of Hormuz will return to prewar conditions nor will calm return to energy markets,” warned a statement from the Tasnim news agency, reflecting the broader economic anxieties tied to the conflict.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at further actions, stating, “There’s more to come,” suggesting that military operations may escalate in the near future.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the nature of the talks claimed by Trump, and the effectiveness of international mediation efforts remains uncertain. The outcome of the ongoing discussions is still unclear, leaving the international community on edge as the conflict continues to unfold.
