STMicroelectronics has begun delivering STM32 microcontrollers in China, marking a significant milestone in local manufacturing. The first batch of these microcontrollers has been fully produced locally, showcasing a commitment to enhancing the semiconductor supply chain in the region.
The localization of STM32 MCU manufacturing kicks off with the high-performance STM32H7 series, utilizing advanced 40nm technology. Mass production of these microcontrollers has officially commenced, with STMicroelectronics establishing a fully localized STM32 supply chain in China.
Henry Cao, a representative from STMicroelectronics, emphasized, “Bringing STM32 MCUs to mass production in China is a core commitment of ST to its Chinese customers.” This strategic move is expected to bolster the company’s presence in the rapidly growing semiconductor market.
The STM32 product portfolio is diverse, including high performance, low power consumption, real-time control, DSP, and connectivity features. These microcontrollers are widely utilized across various sectors, including industrial systems, home appliances, industrial automation, motor control, medical devices, and consumer electronics.
As the industry evolves, STMicroelectronics has positioned itself as the first global semiconductor company with a dual supply chain, enhancing its ability to meet customer needs effectively. The company collaborates with approximately 200,000 customers and boasts a community of 48,000 creators and makers.
The STM32 microcontrollers hold a significant position in the global MCU market, recognized as one of the most important 32-bit MCU platforms worldwide. Looking ahead, STMicroelectronics plans to expand its mass production capabilities for additional STM32 families by 2026.
