Arshdeep Singh Fined for Code of Conduct Breach

Arshdeep Singh was fined 15 percent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand. The incident, which occurred in the 11th over of New Zealand’s innings, involved Singh throwing the ball aggressively towards Daryl Mitchell, hitting his pads.

The breach relates to throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate manner, as outlined in Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct. As a result of this action, one demerit point was added to Singh’s disciplinary record. This was Singh’s first offence in a 24-month period, which may mitigate the severity of the penalty.

Match referee Andy Pycroft proposed the sanction, which Singh accepted without contest. According to the ICC, “There was no need for a formal hearing as the Indian bowler accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.” This indicates a level of cooperation from Singh regarding the incident.

India triumphed over New Zealand by 96 runs in the final, securing their third T20 World Cup title in a historic victory. The match took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the atmosphere was charged with excitement as fans witnessed a remarkable performance from the Indian team.

While the fine and demerit point have been confirmed, details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential impact this incident may have on Singh’s future matches. Observers will be watching closely to see if this incident affects his performance or standing within the team.
