Badshah Faces Legal Action Over Controversial Song
Indian rapper Badshah is currently under scrutiny after an FIR was registered against him for his song “Tateeree,” which has raised significant concerns regarding its content. The FIR was lodged under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
The song allegedly depicts minor girls in school uniforms throwing their school bags and running away from studies, a portrayal that has drawn sharp criticism. In response to the backlash, Badshah issued a public apology, stating, “I belong to Haryana, and I had no intention to speak indecently about any woman or children.” He further expressed, “If anyone is hurt, I seek apology. I expect that you will forgive me by considering me the son of Haryana.”
The Haryana State Commission for Women has summoned Badshah to appear on March 13, as part of the ongoing investigation. The police have also initiated the process of issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) to prevent him from leaving the country.
In addition to the FIR against Badshah, the song has triggered two separate complaints: one from the cybercrime police and another from Jind Police, following a complaint from Haryana Roadways. The police are currently investigating whether proper permission was obtained for the use of a Haryana Roadways bus featured in the video.
Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda condemned the video, stating, “The depiction of school girls in the song and the manner our culture is shown in it is condemnable.” The police have taken steps to remove the song from YouTube and are working to eliminate it from other social media platforms as well.
As the situation develops, police teams are conducting raids to locate and arrest Badshah. Observers expect him to comply with the formal notice issued for his appearance before the police.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the ongoing investigations and any further legal repercussions that may arise from this incident.
